Julia is the convenor of this group. She would like more volunteers to lead the walks. Please let her know if you are able to help. As the group is becoming more popular, it has been decided that no more than 20 walkers will be able to walk on each day. This will be done on a first come, first served basis.

On 1st July, Julia hosted the annual get together of the longer and shorter walking groups in her garden. It was too hot for the walk planned before the event but the picnic lunch was a great success.

The June walk was led by Liz and Madeleine starting from the Cockerel Cafe in Peasmarsh. This has recently been converted from a pub to a cafe. We walked past Old House Farm and Moat Farm to Iden where we stopped in the churchyard for a break (see picture). We then returned to Peasmarsh via a different route for our lunch. The weather was mostly dry although we did have some rain on the return journey. Thanks to Lorna for the picture.

The May walk was led by Lorna Couldrick and David Townsend starting from the Swan Inn at Wood's Corner. The aim was to visit the various follies that Jack Fuller had built in the Brightling area. We passed the spire, the temple (pictured) and the tower before stopping for a short break at Brightling Church. On the return journey Lorna had gained permission for us to walk through the private Brightling Park. Although the weather had turned colder there was no rain or mud and it was a very enjoyable day. (Thanks to Lorna for the picture)

The April walk was led by Val Crawford starting from the Three Oaks pub in the village of the same name. The picture shows a sculpture on the 1066 Country Walk near Pattleton's Farm. We continued towards Doleham and returned to Three Oaks via a different route for our lunch. We enjoyed fine weather with no mud to be seen after the recent dry spell.

The aim is to join together at least twice a year for our socials at Christmas and during the Summer.

Currently the group is open for new members and there is no waiting list.

You have to register with each convenor so do not assume if you join one group you can turn up at the other. Please contact the leader beforehand.
