We are a strolling group who walk every Saturday throughout the year. We do a 3 mile circular walk in either Sussex or Kent, over fields and stiles, starting from and finishing at a pub for lunch between 12.00 and 12:30. All walks start at 10.30 am.
If you have ordered your food in advance, please ring the pub if you need to cancel your meal.
Mud can be expected at certain times of the year, so please wear suitable footwear.

On 16th May, we went to Cross-in-Hand meeting in the car park adjacent to Darch's Wood. We walked all around the wood, leaving and re-joining it. The picture shows volunteers who were busy maintaining the woods. We went on to Heathfield for our lunch.
On 28th March, we visited Sissinghurst, meeting at the Milk House pub. We walked to Paddocks Farm, East of Cranbrook and then returned via a different route. It was a nice, sunny morning. Some of us ate at the Milk House and others went on to Sissinghurst castle for their lunch.

On 14th March, we visited Waldron. It was a sunny day with only light winds. However, the countryside has not dried up yet as this picture shows. Madeleine, Deborah and Caroline are shown wading through a large puddle. We all negotiated this and then returned to Waldron to eat at the Star Inn.

The first walk of 2026 took place on 3rd January when we visited Hellingly. We started on the Cuckoo Trail towards Horam and then branched off, passing Hellingly church. It had snowed the previous day and was still very cold but the sun was out and winds were only light. We went on to the King's Head in Horsebridge for our lunch. Thanks to Lorna for the pictures above.
On 13th December we visited Pett, meeting at the Two Sawyers. We walked through Pett Wood and Guestling Wood, passing close to Guestling Church. We then returned to the Two Sawyers and had a good lunch. It was a lovely sunny morning with no wind.

On 22nd November we visited Boreham Street meeting at the Bull's Head. We walked down Boreham Lane and then through Wartling Wood towards Herstmonceux Castle. We returned via a different path and Wood Lane to the pub for our lunch.
On 8th November the group made the short journey to Catsfield meeting in the Village Hall car park. We walked through fields and woods returning to Catsfield to eat at the White Hart. It was a fine, dry day ideal for walking.

On 11th October we visited Hartfield. Part of the walk took in a former railway line. See above for pictures.

On 6th September, we visited Ditchling and walked from there to the edge of Keymer. On the way back we passed Oldland Mill which dates from the 18th century and is one of the few remaining post mills in the South-East. Unfortunately most of the group are in the shade. We returned from the mill to Ditchling and had lunch in the Green Welly. It was a sunny day with no rain.
On 10th May we met at the Chaser Inn in Shipbourne, north of Tonbridge. We walked from there to the gates of Ightham Mote (pictured) and there our paths diverged. 5 of the group went with Carole on a shorter route back to the pub and 7 went with Brian on a longer return. Some of the group also visited Ightham Mote after the walk. It was another warm, sunny day but with a breeze to keep us cool.

On 3rd May, the group met at the Roebuck in Laughton. There is plenty of nearby woodland, as shown. The weather was warm and sunny.
On 12th April, we walked around Chailey Common which extends to both sides of the A272 in North Chailey. The picture shows the group at the base of the windmill which is on the North side of the road. It was a beautiful spring day with continuous sunshine.
